What is reconstruction?

Reconstruction is the final step to the remediation process. Reconstruction can be the replacement of drywall, installation of new carpet and sometimes can be the reconstruction of complete rooms in a home or property.

Do I need reconstruction?

Without reconstruction your home or property will have the infrastructure exposed. This can be a safety hazard for small children or if you have guests over. There is also a risk that environmental climate, dust, or small creatures such as termites can weaken the wood or the makeup of your property.

What to do if I can’t afford reconstruction right now?

You are not required to have reconstruction in your home; although it is highly recommended. Most remediation companies will have you sign a liability form. The liability form is to protect the remediation company because in some cases due to the lack of reconstruction losses may occur. In some cases if you paying out of pocket there are remediation companies that will allow you to create a payment plan; before you sign a liability form speak with the production or office manager first.

We highly recommend completely reconstruction as this will avoid further damage to your home. Call SERVPRO of San Diego East at (619) 280-2398.

Mitigation companies such as SERVPRO of San Diego East often put containments to control the air quality when mold is present. Other times it is built to contain dust from demolition so it doesn’t enter the rest of the home or property.

Production technicians build the containments, they measure the air or drywall to ensure the space of is accurate for testing. You are allowed to enter the containments, but we highly suggest no one aside from the specialist enter as they wear suits to avoid health issues.

Containments are made from thick plastic, professional tape, and zippers. The material used is very sturdy and is CDC approved - so you don’t have to worry about substances going into the main area.
