Asbestos and how to deal with it!
Asbestos, what is it? Why did we used it? What do we do when we find it?
These are all legitimate questions to ask when dealing with a home that has had fire, water or mold damage.
Asbestos is a heat-resistant fibrous silicate mineral that can be woven into fabrics, and is used in fire-resistant and insulating materials such as brake linings.
As you may know, in the past, asbestos was used in building materials because the fibers provided strength without adding much weight, which made asbestos a sought after building material!
Later on through the years asbestos would be found to be very harmful to health and multiple government agencies would fight to stop using asbestos in homes as a building material.
So what does SERVPRO of San Diego East do when we find asbestos?
We work with an abatement company that specializes in the remediation of asbestos, as we walk with you the entire way through, to make sure it looks "Like it never even happened."
