Water Damage Repair and Restoration: Drying and Dehumidification
There are six steps that SERVPRO of San Diego East takes in order to restore water damage loss. The steps are: emergency contact, inspection and damage assessment, water removal or water extraction, drying and dehumidification, cleaning and repair, and finally restoration. Today we are going to be focusing on the fourth step.
The fourth step of water damage restoration is drying and dehumidification. This step is taken once the excess water has been removed, the walls and floors are always wet to touch.
The drying and dehumidification process begins by measuring the floor and wall temperature and humidity of the room. SERVPRO of San Diego East crew members need these measurements in order to bring adequate amounts of equipment.
Dehumidifiers help prevent secondary water damage like swelling and warping floors, walls, and furniture. Air movers create airflow across walls, carpets, pads, and furniture - it evaporates moisture.
